Context
The Hartford needed to rapidly capture and distribute knowledge to a large audience of internal and external users. To expedite the process, Hartford needed a system that would streamline the process by allowing the knowledge owners, i.e. subject matter experts to be able to easily create and publish training relevant to their area of expertise.

Solution
Provide Hartfords subject matter experts with the training and support enabling them to author their own content
Deploy CERTPOINT's Learning Content Management System, VLS

Approach
Migrated existing training materials from the classroom to web-based
Created a support and reward system which encouraged early participation in the system
Communicated the early successes and business impacts throughout the organization

Results
The Hartfords underwriters and other subject matter experts none of whom are programmers or instructional designers use VLS to create and manage courses
The first group of authors built 21 hours of e-learning content in 12 weeks
Training delivery time for nationwide new product launches has been reduced from 4 months to 6 weeks
The Hartford awarded CERTPOINT its only "Outstanding Strategic Partner Award" in 4 years
