Toyota Captures Silver Excellence in e-Learning Award Presented by Brandon-hall.com and Online Learning Magazine
ANAHEIM, Calif., Sept. 23, 2002 - Vuepoint, a provider of enterprise software that rapidly creates, distributes and manages proprietary corporate and product knowledge, announced today that its client, Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A., Inc., has received the Silver Excellence in e-Learning Award presented by brandon-hall.com and Online Learning Magazine at Sunday's awards dinner held at the Anaheim Hotel as a kick off for the Online Learning 2002 Conference and Expo beginning today at the Anaheim Convention Center.
Present to accept the award on behalf of the Toyota team was Rick Taniguchi, Associate Dean of Learning Technology at the University of Toyota, founded in 1998 as part of the company's "Business Revolution" campaign to streamline overall corporate operations. "I'm very honored and pleased to have experts from brandon-hall.com recognize our efforts. I especially want to take the time to thank Vuepoint for its thought leadership and guidance, which was critical in making this initiative not only possible but a huge success," said Taniguchi.
Mr. Taniguchi also mentioned key members of the Toyota team including Bryan Bergsteinsson, Group VP, University of Toyota; Mike Morrison, Dean, College of Associate Education and Development; Bill Bergen, Associate Dean, School of Product and Technical Education; and Bob Zeinstra, Associate Dean, School of Retail Professional Development.
The "Business Case For Enterprise Learning" was based on a feasibility study led by Vuepoint to demonstrate the value enterprise-wide e-Learning would have for Toyota. The study also showed Toyota how it could address the needs and concerns of the multiple parties involved in such an enormous initiative. The holistic method of the study provided a high-level approach to accomplishing Toyota's e-Learning goals as well as the hard and soft benefits it would derive. The study is a model for any Fortune 500 or large organization looking to embrace an enterprise-wide e-Learning initiative.
The Excellence in e-Learning Awards were presented by brandon-hall.com, a leading e-Learning research and consulting firm, and Online Learning Magazine. Now in its sixth year (formerly the Brandon Hall of Fame Awards), the awards program showcases exceptional work in the e-Learning industry by providing feedback and benchmarking in an overall effort to help advance the e-Learning industry.
Award recipients in this year's new category of Best Practices for Internal e-Learning included 5 Gold award winners, 5 Silver award winners, and 5 Bronze award winners, which were selected from 43 entries that were evaluated by 99 judges overall for 4 categories but there were 27 judges for this particular category with expertise in instructional design and online or multimedia training and internal organizational e-Learning.
"The inclusion of this new category in the Excellence in e-Learning Awards program mirrors the continuing growth, diversity and innovation of the entire e-Learning industry," says Hall. "It's our goal to celebrate and share these ground-breaking efforts and best practices to enlighten the industry as a whole."
