Techtronic Industries is a $3.7 billion global company, with operations on every continent and nearly 20,000 employees. Since 1985, the company has grown consistently and rapidly by focusing on excellence in the design, manufacture and marketing of a range of portable power products such as Ryobi and Milwaukee Electric Tools. When he joined Techtronic Industries, Inc. (TTI) in 2006 as Senior VP, Sales, Training & Recruiting, Matt DeFeo was determined to ensure the same focus on excellence also applied to the learning and development function. DeFeo’s approach was to establish the right systems to ensure valuable learning and to demonstrate that impact with hard numbers.
TTI succeeded in meeting its corporate aims in 2011 and DeFeo was able to show the company’s learning management system (LMS) was part of that success in three different areas.
This case study outlines the three methods used, explores why they were successful and examines why the choice of LMS – CERTPOINTVLS™, from CERTPOINT Systems – was so important.
