We’re in the midst of a global celebration of entrepreneurship and innovation – where millions of young movers and shakers around the world are joining a growing movement of entrepreneurial people, to generate new ideas and look for better ways of doing things. Countries across six continents are coming together to celebrate Global Entrepreneurship Week, an initiative to inspire young people to embrace innovation, imagination and creativity. To think big. To turn ideas into reality.

This got me thinking.

I see some key drivers behind this growing trend of entrepreneurship: new technologies, globalization, collaboration and a thirst for rapid learning. Thanks to web-based technology we live in a borderless world where ideas can, and do, come from anywhere. We have a new generation millennial workforce, digitally driven, who share effortlessly with each other. This fast-paced world means we need rapid speed to knowledge more than ever.

Our Learning and Development universe is no different. The industry is shifting thanks to very same drivers- and they are offering L&D leadership the opportunity to reinvent its role, to become business-led, and to take its place at the C-Suite table.

Global Entrepreneur Week is all about sharing new ideas and collaboration. Be inspired. I was!
